Tip From The Bench

At Skylabs, we believe every vintage 2 channel stereo system can benefit from the addition of a powered subwoofer. Subwoofers provide dedicated handling of low output frequencies that, with the right set up, can enhance your listening experience and even reduce stress on your amplifier.

This tip links you to a video Kevin did a few years ago explaining and demonstrating 3 types of subwoofer set-ups depending on A) your vintage receiver/amplifier outputs, and B) the subwoofer that you add to your system and its input/output connectivity options.

The subwoofers that we all use at Skylabs have both speaker level inputs and speaker level outputs. This subwoofer design allows its amplifier to retain and manage the low frequencies, while its crossover passes only the remaining higher frequencies to the speakers.

You can order the accessories that Kevin references in the video from Amazon at the associated links below. Some product links are affiliate links which means if you buy something we’ll receive a small commission.
